OHAH Community ("Our Hearts Are Home," "we," "us," or "our") operates the OHAH Community mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: email address, first name, last name, and display name when you create an account.
- Profile information: phone number, street address, city, state/province, country, date of birth, gender, profile photo, and cover image. All of these are optional.
- Child memorials: first name, birthday, heaven day (date of passing), loss type, and story for children you choose to memorialize on your profile.
- Content you create: posts, comments, messages, event RSVPs, and photos you upload to the Service.
Information collected automatically
- Device information: device type, operating system, and push notification tokens (if you enable push notifications).
- Usage information: pages visited, features used, and timestamps of activity.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Service, including your profile, groups, messaging, and events.
- To send you notifications about activity relevant to you (messages, connection requests, group updates, milestone reminders).
- To send birthday and heaven day remembrance notifications to the community based on the dates you provide.
- To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
- To respond to support requests.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
- Within the community: your display name, profile photo, city, state, and child memorial information are visible to other authenticated members. Private messages are only visible to the participants in that conversation.
- Service providers: we use third-party services to operate the Service, including Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), and Resend (email delivery). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to view. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
5. Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we store a device token to deliver notifications to your device. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. You can also manage which types of notifications you receive within the app's notification preferences.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and update: you can view and update your profile information at any time through the app.
- Delete your account: you can request account deletion by contacting us at the email below. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days.
- Notification preferences: you can control which notifications you receive (in-app, push, and email) through the app's settings.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The "child memorial" feature is intended for parents to honor and remember their children and does not involve accounts for minors.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Posts and comments may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve the integrity of group conversations.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
